Tom Haines releases live album with the Birmingham Jazz Orchestra

A photo from the live gig during one of the compositions

June continues with more new music I’ve been involved with being released, this time from composer and arranger Tom Haines.

Tom has been working on composing and arranging for big bands for quite a few years now and this release marks the end of Kickstarter funded project to help make this album possible. The Birmingham Jazz Orchestra, featuring many of the familiar faces of the Birmingham scene, performed two sets of music live in the main hall at the Stratford Arts House to support the 30th anniversary celebrations of Stratford Jazz. An evening filled with occasion was capped off by the live recording of this performance of Tom’s music to be released on CD.

The album has been self-released and is available on iTunes and other outlets as well as direct from Tom’s Bandcamp page here: https://tomhaines.bandcamp.com/releases

Tom talks about the album and the process and results in this interesting youtube video:

There are some lovely reviews coming in and here are a couple: http://www.londonjazznews.com/2017/05/cd-review-tom-haines-birmingham-jazz.html
