A few days with the quartet…Posted by Jonathan Silk on November 27, 2016 News | Tags: adam jackson, birmingham, chris mapp, circle studios, cogs bar, demos, fragment, jonathan silk, new music, quartet, recording, thomas seminar ford | No comments
This week has seen a fun few days working again with my Fragment quartet, both performing and recording around Birmingham.
Thursday 24th November was at a great night in the city centre run by saxophonist Chris Young. COGS Bar is a fairly new venue having been refurbished earlier this year. This vibey jazz night harks back to the days of the Yardbird outside Paradise Forum and the late licence helps keep that alive! The quartet were supported brilliantly by current conservatoire student, Olivia Murphy and her band.
Check out COGS bar if you get a chance – live jazz every Thursday and a jam session too!
Recording new demos
The following day, we headed to Circle Studios in the Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham to spend a few hours tracking some new demos of the quartet material we have toured this month. We had a great time with sound engineer Trevor and I would definitely recommend this great studio to anyone needing some recording!
The new music will be available soon and I’ll be sure to write some more in the future but until then I just wanted to share a few photos from the session and look forward to bringing the music to you when it’s ready!
